Choosing a location for your family portraits?
One of the first questions I ask my clients during our consultation is "where do you want to take your portraits?" Many haven't thought about it and leave the choice up to their photographer, which is fine. However, taking a little time to consider your options will help create the best pictures of your family.
There are many different types of locations out there. The beach, urban/city, a field or park, and even your home. A few things you should consider when choosing a location:
Where will you be displaying your images? Think about your decor in your home. Will an urban setting stand out among your modern farmhouse style?
What do you plan on wearing? Think about how your clothes will fit with your setting and vice-versa.
Where will your family be most comfortable? Your images should show the happiness between you and your family, so you should choose a location where you all can relax and be yourselves.
BEACH
Does your family spend their time at the beach. Living in Houston, the beach is an option for your pictures. The beach offers more than just sand and water. You can also take your pictures on the pier or seawall. There is also a lot of space for the kids to run around. Great for capturing those candid, happy moments.
URBAN
Are you a family about town? Houston offers many options for an urban landscape. Many neighborhoods have their own distinct look, Downtown, The Heights, Montrose, City Centre, many others. Do consider the time it can take to drive and walk to each location.
